The University of Bergen welcomes researchers, university teachers, administrators, gender equality practitioners and student union representatives to the 7th European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education. The conference will focus on gender equality in a changing academic world against the backdrop of the current financial crisis in Europe and beyond.

Nominations open for inspiring young women in technology
The UK's most inspiring young women working in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) industries are being called for nominations to this year's 2012 WISE Awards. It celebrates individuals, organisations, leaders and advisors in STEM that promote gender equality and diversity, including the Excellence Award that recognises the achievement of women in the early stages of their technology jobs and other STEM roles, as well as promote their career to girls and other young women.

Computer science enrollments rise again by 10%
Interest in computer science continues to grow among undergrad students, who pushed enrollments up nearly 10% in the 2011-12 academic year. This marks the fourth straight year of increases. The numbers might have been even higher if not for enrollment caps that some schools have put in place because they don't have enough faculty members, equipment or classrooms to meet demand, according to the Computing Research Association (CRA), which conducts the annual Taulbee survey.

MIT professor wins award celebrating women in computing
Nancy Lynch, a long-time Massachusetts Institute of Technology computer science professor, was named Tuesday the Athena Lecturer, an annual award for pioneering female researchers who work in computer science. Lynch, who has been an MIT professor since 1981, is the seventh recipient of the award from the Association for Computing Machinery’s Council on Women in Computing. She works in the school's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and is known for pioneering work that uses mathematics to perfect wired and wireless computer networks.

FI-WARE Open Call for additional project partners, deadline: 25/04/2012
The FP7 project FI-WARE, part of the Future Internet Public Private Partnership, announces its first Open Call for new project partners. FI-WARE will deliver a new service infrastructure, building upon generic and reusable building blocks called ''Generic Enablers''. FI-WARE develops open specifications and reference implementations of Generic Enablers. This open call asks for organizations that can contribute or develop the Generic Enablers related to middleware and business models. Total funding available for new partners is up to 2 Million Euro, and the call closes on 25 April 2012 at 17h00.

WIRES 2012 – Women s International Research Engineering Summit in Athens
WIRES is the international summit for women who are interested in pursuing international collaborative researching opportunities. The main objective of this summit is to enable meaningful and sustainable research exchanges between female engineers from around the world while identifying issues faced by females pursuing careers in engineering that could benefit from a global strategy.
