Safer Internet Forum (SIF) is a key annual international conference in Europe where policy makers, researchers, law enforcement bodies, youth, parents and carers, teachers, NGOs, industry representatives, experts and other relevant actors come together to discuss the latest trends, risks and solutions related to child online safety.

Dr. Marguerite Evans-Galea is on the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) Steering Committee, which is bringing the Athena SWAN Charter to Australia. The Australian Pilot of Athena SWAN begins in August 2015 and it is led by the Australian Academy of Science.

According to the Harvard Business Review, 41% of women working in tech eventually end up leaving the field (compared to just 17% of men). When researcher Kieran Snyder interviewed 716 women who left tech after an average tenure of 7 years, almost all of them said they liked the work itself, but cited discriminatory environments as their main reason for leaving. In NSF-funded research, Nadya Fouad surveyed 5,300 women who had earned engineering degrees (of all types) over the last 50 years, and only 38% of them are still working as engineers.

This year's IROS 2015 conference will be a show in European excellence in the robotics field with 53 EU-funded projects presenting the most recent research and innovation in robotics. It's a unique opportunity to see how the EU programme on robotics contributes to progress in the field.

BP has launched the Ultimate STEM Challenge, a competition in partnership with the Science Museum and STEMNET. This year, students aged 11-14 across the UK are being challenged to use their Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths skills to develop energy efficient solutions to real-world challenges.
Students will have the chance to compete for prizes, including a cash prize of 500GBP to spend on science equipment or a field trip. The celebratory final event will take place during British Science Week at the Science Museum in London.

The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), a national non-profit organization based in Boulder, Colorado, seeks a Curriculum Designer & Instructor for a new project being funded by the National Science Foundation for three years. This is a part-time, contract position (20 hours per week) and is not bound by location other than the U.S.

Understanding this influence allows us to actively craft an environment that makes a broad range of people feel welcome in computing. The Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington opened in 2003. The building was intended to be warm, welcoming, and 'non-techy' in appearance, applying principles supported by research on stereotypes and the environment. Combined with the department's other diversity initiatives, the building may be accomplishing its goal. The department has seen increases in women's representation at a time when peer institutions saw declines.

Lady Pitch Night 2015 will convene over 400 innovative female business leaders, investors, engineers, and designers to explore the best in innovation, tech, and entrepreneurship. Girls in Tech is hosting the half-day pitch competition for early-stage technology startups for female entrepreneurs. A panel of seasoned tech professionals and investors will be judging based on the innovativeness and viability of the product or service. The competition will take place at Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center in San Francisco on Tuesday, November 10. Winners will receive a cash prize along with additional resources such as office space provided by RocketSpace, and equipment to move their startup forward.

Stack Overflow, a Q&A site for programmers, recently came out with its 2015 developer survey. With responses from more than 26,000 people in 157 countries, Stack Overflow was able to pinpoint some interesting trends in tech and how they vary regionally, painting a picture of the life of a programmer today around the world.
