The focus of this year’s conference will be on the individual (in her many societal roles) in relation to the ever increasing dimensions of the technological (digital) environment. The Forum aims to develop proposals for how best to move forward. The inter-relation between individuals and the technological environment will define the future organization of living, working and citizenship.

The aim of the event is to inform and guide prospective applicants preparing project proposals, to facilitate sharing of ideas and experiences. It will give participants the chance to network and to find partners for their projects. The activities supported under this topic contribute to the Big Data challenge by addressing the fundamental research problems related to the scalability and responsiveness of analytics capabilities (such as privacy-aware machine learning, language understanding, data mining and visualization). Special focus is on industry-validated, user-defined challenges like predictions, and rigorous processes for monitoring and measurement.

Taking place during the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, eHealth Week 2015 comprises of two main events: the High Level eHealth Conference organised by the Latvian Ministry of Health and the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and WoHIT (World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition) organised by HIMSS Europe. Attracting over 2000 international delegates and 75 exhibitors, the event will welcome global decision makers from public and private healthcare sectors, clinicians, hospital and IT managers and VIP guests.

Look around the room at most conferences, seminars, trade shows and panels and things are bound to look a little lopsided gender-wise. And as a result, the discussions are disappointingly one-dimensional. Where are all the women? The fact is that there are plenty of noteworthy female entrepreneurs with valuable knowledge to offer at these events - they simply aren’t getting the exposure they deserve. That’s the issue that inspired a new Kickstarter, Innovation Women. This project, which is spearheaded by PR pro and Mass Innovation Nights founder Bobbie Carlton, seeks to give talented female tech professionals and entrepreneurs some more visibility. The idea is to make it easier for women to share their expertise, while also making it easier for event managers to find and secure quality female speakers.

It is our pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the Management and Scientific Committees of EUROMAT2015. We invite you to attend this next conference in the EUROMAT series which will be hosted in Warsaw, on 20 - 24 September 2015. The venue will be the Warsaw University of Technology, the oldest and the largest technical university in Poland. The conference will be centred in the beautiful setting of the 19th century main building of the University. The programme will include plenary lectures, parallel sessions and poster presentations. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed for quality and impact. Accepted abstracts will be assigned to oral or poster sessions, and will appear in the programme booklet. An industrial exhibition will accompany the event and a social program as well.
